Following a management review, Thomas Salmon has been promoted to the role of Calabash’s Chief Operating Officer. The announcement marks a major milestone on our journey. From building a comprehensive service offer to developing our sustainability strategy, Calabash has been putting strong foundations in place as an ethical and responsible business. We are now ready to start the next chapter in setting new standards and changing mindsets within the facilities management sector.

Thomas has worked for Calabash since 2001 and has been promoted from his latest role as Senior Area Manager in which he has gained a wealth of experience delivering best-in-class customer service. As COO he will help deliver our ambitious growth plans and continue to differentiate the business as a provider of choice for cleaning excellence.

As one of London’s leading facilities management companies we have always looked to stand out from the crowd. For more than three decades we have built a reputation on the back of our commitment to continuous business improvement. With a background providing cleaning services for luxury retailers, our attention to detail has put us on an impressive growth trajectory.

In his new role, Thomas will work with his fellow Director Steve Aylmer to continue exceeding customer expectations. The management team has already been busy raising the bar by increasing the number of area supervisors and managers.

As well as driving standards by offering training and opportunities for career progression, we are also ensuring our talented staff are paid a fair salary for the amazing work they do. In April 2023 we committed to paying The Living Wage. 12 months on, 93% of our clients have signed up to the rate, driving positive social impact by ensuring employees can afford to meet the real cost of living.

This work is aligned with our core values and is helping drive the development and implementation of our sustainability strategy. Calabash is working with consultancy Wylde Connections to boost our ESG credentials and the next stage of growth will see the management team secure success by serving the triple bottom line of people profit and planet.

Thomas and Steve will spend the coming months identifying new opportunities to deliver positive interventions, from cleaning techniques that minimise environmental impact to supporting responsible resource management.

That approach is already helping us gain competitive advantage and demonstrate to businesses across the facilities management market what can be achieved by putting sustainability at the heart of decision making. The priority now is to capitalise on our expertise and reputation to increase our customer base, continue expanding our work beyond London into regional cities and develop long term relationships with customers through bespoke service solutions.
